Antitrust Law
Federal antitrust laws, including the Sherman Act and the Clayton Act, and Wisconsin's state antitrust laws, protect competition, consumer welfare, and the economy as a whole from unfair and anticompetitive trade practices and also from abuses of monopoly power by large corporations. Some companies have engaged in unfair and restrictive trade practices, such as price-fixing, market allocation, or bid-rigging schemes, which raise prices to consumers and harm competition generally. Other companies use their size and market power to exclude competitors from, and thereby monopolize, markets for particular goods or services.
